The style and textile technology system at Buffalo State is the only baccalaureate system in Western New York that gives multiple profession planning choices for the multifaceted, international manner industry.
Our affiliations with industry and professional organizations include the American Apparel Footwear Association, which includes endorsed this system; the United states Association of Textiles Chemists and Colorists; the United states Collegiate Retailing Association; additionally the Global Textiles Apparel Textile Association.
Fashion pupils are encouraged to participate in extracurricular programmatic tasks and regional and national competitions and have now achieved top awards in national apparel (Bobbin Show) and textile design (Computer Integrated Textile Design Association) tournaments. Internships are available in the Buffalo area and elsewhere in the us.
Individualized Interest
Professors expertise, constant updating of technology-based curriculum, and industry partnerships contribute to the effectiveness of the program. Class sizes tend to be small, permitting specific interest.
Average course dimensions for majors:
100-level lecture classes: 50 pupils
Computer classes: 15-20 pupils
Construction classes: 17 students
Upper-division lecture classes: 30 pupils
After Graduation
Samples of available opportunities include specialists in assessment labs to set safety and gratification requirements, CAD (printing, weave, knit, technical, or manner graphic) apparel designers, trend and design experts, private label costing and sourcing, CAM production, stylists, colorists, business owners, fashion/visual merchandisers, merchandiser representatives, manner journalists, logistics professionals, U.S. traditions representatives, and movie theater costuming.
Students being used by most major apparel and textile organizations, including, yet not restricted to, Abercrombie & Fitch, Calvin Klein, Dior, Ralph Lauren, Macy’s, Fisher-Price, New Era, Tommy Hilfiger, and Victoria’s Secret.
