OSHA fined Cotton Commercial American, Inc. $362, 500 today for seven security violations including failing continually to offer fall defense for four workers, not promptly reporting the damage, and never supplying fall security instruction. The company waited three days to report the injury which should have-been reported in 24 hours or less regarding the event. You can observe the citations right here.
After asking for a safety use rather than receiving one from his manager, the temporary worker fell 12 foot through the roof he was working on. He had been hospitalized with fractured hands and severe contusions.
“Falls kill workers, but they are avoidable, ” stated Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and wellness Dr. David Michaels. “Cotton industrial denied its employees the security equipment they're required to offer, as well as the organization intentionally waited a number of days to report the event and misled OSHA’s inspectors.”
